Strategy-to-Roadmap Canvas
A compact structure for translating a multi-year ambition into strategic choices, capability dependencies, decision milestones, and measurable outcomes.
A roadmap is useful when it expresses choices, dependencies, and learning—not when it only sequences projects.
01
The six fields
- 01
Strategic ambition: what must be different in 3–5 years?
- 02
Customer and economic problem: why does the change matter?
- 03
Strategic choices: what will we do—and not do?
- 04
Capabilities and dependencies: what must exist first?
- 05
Decision milestones: when do leaders need to choose?
- 06
Evidence and learning: what would change the roadmap?
02
How to use it
Complete the canvas before creating a detailed initiative plan. Revisit it at each major governance point so that delivery decisions remain connected to the original strategic and economic logic.
This is a personal working framework, intended to be adapted to the context in which it is used. Public examples use generalized or synthetic information.
