0→1 capability building

01
Where I built capabilities
- VIRAC: established and led Company Research Production, including the team, workflows and quality standards supporting 500+ reports across 26 industries.
- Home Credit, Commercial Finance: joined as the first member and helped establish planning, business partnering and performance management.
- SHBFinance: built Commercial Finance and Data Management capabilities as Unit Head.
- Home Credit, Product Transformation: established the function and now lead a four-person team of senior experts and managers.
02
How the responsibility evolved
The early work centered on reliable output and production discipline. Later roles added business partnering, management economics and the design of new functions. My current scope combines specialist team leadership with priorities and governance across a transformation portfolio.
03
What I carry forward
- Define the decisions and users the capability must support.
- Connect people, data and process with a clear business mandate.
- Build recurring management use into the work, alongside the initial deliverable.

A closer example
The Commercial Finance and Data Management case describes the SHBFinance assignment in more detail. Each career stage involved a different level of ownership; a first-member contribution and a function-head mandate should be described on their own terms.
This case study focuses on transferable methods and leadership lessons. Customer data, proprietary model logic, exact commercial figures, and unpublished company decisions are not included.
